The average life of any magnetic tape is approximately fifteen years, and that's if it's been stored properly, re-wound to the beginning and every six months fast-forwarded and re-wound again. You should store your video and audio tapes vertically in a dark, dry environment. Even so, you may get magnetic-image/sound cross-over, and any magnetic device that comes close to or in contact with the tape, will erase that part and there's no getting it back.
Also, the Mylar backing that holds the magetic particles will stretch over time. This stretching could radically effect the viewing of your videos and the dynamics of your audio! Since the tracking of the video tape against the spinning helical-scan video head of your VCR is not "aligned", this wll most likely add irritating static or no viewable video at all (this is very evident in tape-to-tape copies). Adjusting the "tracking" button on your VCR or remote might help, but only for a little while. And if your magnetic tapes get "sticky", they may not be salvagable! Remember with cassette audio tapes, the width of the tape is 1/8" and is extremely delicate the older it gets.
The same goes for your record collection. Store upright in a cool place away from sunlight. Even then, warping can occur in humid conditions giving them a very oscillatiing sound.

We charge a flat rate for all of our conversion services. These services are for a two hour or less VHS video tape to DVD conversion. We do not calculate the time of the actual video. A VHS video recorded at Standard Play (SP) is a two hour video, even if the viewable part is shorter than two hours. Long Play (LP) is a four hour VHS video tape and are double the price and will require two DVDs. Contact us about converting Extended Play (EP) or six hour videos.
Our tape to DVD package is $38.95 which includes an opening page menu with chapter breaks at changes during the tape (or fixed timed intervals) and comes in a DVD library case with an image from your video on the cover. If there are more than one continuous videos transferred, that image might be generic. We will COMBINE multiple shorter videos to DVD for a lower price (see example chart below).

For example, one VHS tape has 40 minutes of video (that will be the base starting price of $38.95, but as you add additional shorter videos they will be only $10.00 for each segment. So another 10 minute video added will be $10.00, and so on until the two-hour DVD maximun time is reached). It's best that you know what's on the VHS video tapes to save you the $10.00 cost of R Squared Media, Inc. reviewing the tapes for content. These prices work with the cassette to CD conversions too.

78 RPM RECORDS
78 RPM shellac record discs usually ran from 3 minutes to 7 minutes, depending on whether the disc was 7" or 10". We take your precious 78 RPM records and using a 78 RPM player, download the audio to our computer harddrive. Then we convert the original audio, using special software, to an almost "pop and scratchless" new digital file that is copied to a compact disc (CD). Out time and effort is dedicated to bringing you the best sound and clarity of your old records and memories to pass on to generations to come.

35mm slides hiding in a box or carousal? When was the last time you looked at those priceless memories? We'll convert and adjust the color for .55 per slide. These will be copied to a CD for you to download to your laptop for titling and archiving. Need a nice slideshow presentation with animated slides and music? We can do that too!

Please take the time to review your VHS videos for playablitiy before sending them to us for conversion. We are not responsible for VHS/cassette tapes that are defective. We will not convert copyrighted material or adult/mature content, but we will make a "backup duplicate" of your special 78RPM albums/VHS tapes that can no longer be purchased or found online. Most vinyl albums are available for purchase on the internet, so please don't ask us to convert your "vinyl" collection.
